The Types of Visas That Are Not Available for the 2024 Hajj

Planning to perform Hajj in 2024? It’s crucial to understand the visa requirements to ensure a smooth and lawful pilgrimage. The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia mandates specific visas for Hajj pilgrims. Here’s an essential guide to the types of visas that are not permitted for Hajj in 2024 and the legal Hajj visas available in Indonesia.

Visas Not Permitted for Hajj

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has explicitly stated that several types of visas are not allowed for performing Hajj. Using these visas will be considered illegal, and violators may face legal consequences. The following visas cannot be used for Hajj:

  • Visit Visa: Issued for family visits or business meetings, not for religious purposes.
  • Tourism Visa: Designed for tourists exploring Saudi Arabia, not for pilgrims.
  • Employment Visa: Granted for work purposes, not for performing Hajj.
  • Transit Visa: Meant for short layovers, not for religious pilgrimages.
  • Other Related Visas: Any visa not explicitly designated as a Hajj visa.

The Ministry emphasized through social media that performing Hajj without the correct visa is a violation of the law and will lead to legal repercussions.

Legal Hajj Visas in Indonesia

In Indonesia, there are two types of legal Hajj visas, as stipulated by Law (UU) Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of the Hajj and Umrah Pilgrimage. These are:

  1. Indonesian Quota Hajj Visa: This visa is part of the official quota allocated to Indonesia by the Saudi government. Pilgrims using this visa must go through the official channels managed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia.
  2. Mujamalah Hajj Visa (Furoda Hajj): This visa is an invitation visa from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims who use this visa must depart through the Special Hajj Organizer (PIHK). The Furoda Hajj allows pilgrims to perform Hajj outside of the Indonesian government’s quota, provided they receive an invitation directly from Saudi authorities.
Important Reminder

Planning your Hajj journey? Remember, only Hajj visas are permitted for the pilgrimage. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah requires all pilgrims to obtain the appropriate Hajj visa before arriving in Saudi Arabia. Failure to secure a Hajj visa can result in penalties, as performing Hajj without the correct visa is illegal.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah warns: “If you fail to obtain a Hajj visa, you may be subject to punishment because it is a violation of the law.”
