Foreign Nationals Required to Appear in Person for Visa Extensions Starting June 2025

Jakarta – The Directorate General of Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia has officially issued Circular Letter No. IMI-417.GR.01.01 Year 2025, introducing a major policy change for all foreign nationals (foreigners) residing in Indonesia.

Starting June 2025, all foreigners who wish to extend their visa must appear in person at the local Immigration Office (Kantor Imigrasi/Kanim). Visa extension procedures will no longer be fully processed online or through a representative.

What Does the New Regulation Say?

✅ In-person attendance is mandatory for visa extensions
✅ Applies to most visa types (tourist, temporary stay, etc.)
✅ No longer allowed to use representatives or fully online submissions
✅ Enforcement begins nationwide in June 2025

Why This Policy Matters

📌 To ensure accurate identity and intent verification
📌 To reduce misuse of stay permits and fraudulent practices
📌 To align immigration procedures with greater transparency and accountability
